Healthy Start was developed by a team of Medical students at Griffith University in QLD within their student organisation "HOPE4HEALTH". It has since grown to include BOND University (M.A.D.) and University of Queensland (TIME). In addition to Healthy Start running on the Gold Coast/Brisban we now also have programs running at Royal Darwin Hospital within Flinders University as well as on the Sunshine Coast with Griffith University. Since its inception Healthy Start has been blessed with hundreds of Student and Health professional volunteers who have worked with thousands of newly arrived refugees settled in Australia.
To educate and support newly arrived refugees whilst also upskilling health professionals working with culturally and linguistically diverse clients
Our Volunteers are a mix of Health Professionals and Students. This includes Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Dentists and Dietitians
Our clients come from all over the world and we work hard to produce Healthy Start sessions which are relevant and culturally appropriate
